Text: Kitaabu Manaazilu as-Saaireen by Sheikh ‘Abdullah al-Ansaari al-Harawi
It has been said that if the Islamic sciences are compared to the human body, then Aqaa’id (Islamic Beliefs) would be like the bones, Fiqh (Islamic Laws) would be like the muscles, and Akhlaaq (Ethics) would be like the skin and hair. In other words, Akhlaaq is the component that beautifies the other components. In Akhlaaq, the subject is the nafs or self, and the purpose is to purify the nafs of vices and instill virtuous qualities through understanding our true relationship to Allah (swt)..
